ABOUT THE HMFSC
The Hudson Mohawk Figure Skating Club Inc. (HMFSC) is a member club of U.S. Figure Skating, the governing body of the sport of figure skating in the United States.
The purpose of HMFSC is to promote figure skating, free skating, ice dancing, and moves in the field on all levels.
OUR HISTORY
1950
Shortly after the opening of the Rensselaer Field House in Troy, NY, the RPI Figure Skating Club was organized with 26 aspiring skaters, under the experienced guidance of its Managing Director, H.L. "Jack" Garren and Peg Garren.
The Club's purpose was to encourage the Art Sport of figure skating in all of its branches:

1951
The RPI Figure Skating Club was granted probationary membership into the United States Figure Skating Association.
The Club participated in its first competition: the Eastern Sectional Championships.
1952
The RPI Figure Skating Club was granted full membership into the United States Figure Skating Association.
A Junior Division was added to the Club under the supervision of Peg Garren.
1953
The RPI Figure Skating Club hosted its first Carnival, produced and directed by Jack and Peg Garren.
1958
The RPI Figure Skating Club hosted the Eastern Sectional Competition.
1961
The RPI Figure Skating Club hosted the North Atlantic States Sub-Sectional Figure Skating Championships.
1976
The RPI Figure Skating Club changed its name to the Hudson Mohawk Figure Skating Club (HMFSC).
Today
Over 50 years since its inception, the main objective of the Hudson Mohawk Figure Skating Club has remained the same: to promote figure skating in the Troy, New York area. The Club is fortunate to have the RPI Houston Field House as its home rink.
